Popcrunch reports that Nicole Kidman has asked George Clooney to be her baby's godfather - and he's agreed!
George has already offered his congratulations, saying “[She’ll be] a perfect mother.”
Nicole and George have been buds since they starred together in The Peacemaker in 1997. You may recall that George was rumored to be the cause of Nicole's breakup with Tom Cruise.
Nicole split with Scientology when she split with Tom, and has since become a devout Catholic. She and husband Keith Urban plan to have their child baptized as a Catholic.
Is George Clooney Catholic? Does it matter if he is, if he's going to be made godfather to a Catholic baby? Inquiring minds want to know!
I'm pretty sure the only person who can give a definitive answer is the man himself. Various websites claim that George is an atheist, whereas he has often spoken publicly (and more importantly, to Bono of all people!)about his Catholic upbringing, and his father's devotion to Catholicism. I think George summed it up best himself; that if you're in the public eye, it can be dangerous to admit to one particular faith, or lack of. However, Nicole Kidman is a smart lady, so I don't think she'd give the honour of godparent to somebody whose heart wasn't truly in it.
