Today we honor the adorable Ginnifer Goodwin. Setting aside the fact that I hate that she decided, at some point, to cutsey up her name by spelling it with a "G," I really like her.
We've only known this Southern girl from Memphis in Hollywood since 2001 when she landed her first TV role on Law & Order, but Ginnifer began acting at age five, in a stage production of "The Little Engine That Could." She appeared in Comedy Central's first original movie Porn 'n' Chicken in 2002.
The first time I noticed her was in Mona Lisa Smile, a movie that I dislike for so many reasons (*cough*Julia Roberts*cough*), but love for so many other reasons - Ginnifer being one of them. Styles, Gyllenhaal, Dunst and Goodwin all capture that 1950s women's college energy, but Ginnifer does a particularly good job of embodying it without seeming affected.
Right now, of course, she's busy starring in Big Love on HBO. Personally, I think her Margene is the most genuine of all the characters on that show. I find her the easiest to relate to, because she's REAL. Whether that's due to her talent or that of the scriptwriters is hard to say for sure. Surely there's a measure of both, but I'm leaning more in her favor than theirs.
Ginnifer is pictured here on Wednesday at a private screening of the animated short "Trembled Blossoms," at the Prada store in L.A. Her dress is simple but the geometric design makes it different, and I love her lipstick. I also adore the color of her clutch - so rich. Personally would have matched my purse to my lip color in this instance, but she's making it work well.
Keep an eye out for Ginnifer in Season 3 of Big Love, which will air this summer.
