Shannon Elizabeth Turns Down Derek Hough's Proposal

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough have been hot and heavy for several months now, and reportedly even moved in together in May.   So it's really no surprise that he popped the question recently.  However, Shannon's perhaps not as enthusiastic as you might think - she said no!

"She's enjoying every moment of their romance , but she's not ready to get hitched again," an insider tells Star.

I suppose she's probably not, since she might still be married to Joseph Reitman.  Despite her filing for divorce in 2005, it's not clear that the divorce is yet final.  Probably want to get that loose end tied up before trying to marry anyone else, Shannon, hon.

A-Rod Files Response to Divorce, Wants To Keep All His Money

Alex Rodriguez has filed paperwork in response to his wife Cynthia's petition for divorce.    This oughta be good, right?

A-Rod admits the marriage is "irretrievably broken." But he points out that Florida is a "no fault state" and chastises his estranged wife, Cynthia Rodriguez, for mentioning "immaterial and impertinent" issues like his alleged "extra marital affairs and other marital misconduct."

(By "marital misconduct" you mean late night visits with Madonna, right?)

Now, given that Alex can hardly deny some of the stuff he's done, you'd think he would be classy enough to just give Cynthia whatever she wants and keep it quiet, right?   Hell no!  This is A-Rod!  Despite making more money than any other baseball player in the Major League, he "argues that the divorce settlement should be determined by their prenup, which Cynthia signed a month before their 2002 wedding."  Cynthia is asking to keep their $12M mansion in Florida and a cut of the earnings he made during their marriage.

Certainly she is entitled to child support even if the prenup prevents her from personally benefiting from his earnings, so hopefully the court will be fair with her.  Me, I'm getting a box of popcorn and getting comfortable because this promises to be a good show.

Jamie Lynn Spears Wedding Plans Announced

OK! Magazine must be treating Jamie Lynn Spears pretty well, because they keep getting exclusive scoops on her business.  Now they reveal her plans to wed fiance-slash-baby daddy Casey Aldridge by the end of the year, probably this fall.

The probable venue?  Her very own home on three acres in Liberty, Mississippi. 

"She loves everything about the area where she lives. She's not going to get married at some luxury resort in the Caribbean or a hotel in Beverly Hills," a friend of the bride-to-be tells OK!. "Her own backyard with just the people who matter most is more Jamie Lynn's style."

Of course, big sis Britney Spears will be her Jamie Lynn's maid of honor, and Casey's sister Ashlee will be one of her bridesmaids. And tiny toddler Maddie will be an integral part of the wedding — possibly in a basket decorated with flowers and carried into the ceremony by the bride and groom's mothers.

Of course, Maddie, born just last month, unless found to be superhuman between now and then, will hardly be a "toddler" by the time of the wedding, since that word generally implies the ability to walk.   

Anyway, I think Jamie Lynn and Casey are doing the right thing by at least trying.  I'm sure that OK! will bring us "exclusive" pictures just as soon as they say "I do."

Anderson Cooper Is A...Cougar?

So this is a rumor that even at its source appears incredibly speculative, but hey.  This is celebrity gossip, right? 

LA Rag Mag is reporting that newsman Anderson Cooper has asked his much-younger boyfriend to move in with him.   Their source, Gawker, says:

A tipster heard from the supposed boyfriend's associates that Cooper asked him to move in and that the boyfriend accepted.

Last month, Anderson was said to be dating one of Diane Von Furstenburg's assistants, who is in his early 20s.  Is the new live-in the same guy?  No one knows at this point.

But that's not the real news here, at least not to me.  Where the hell have I been?  I didn't even know Anderson Cooper was gay!  And then I thought about it for about 3.5 seconds.  Yeah.  Just not paying enough attention.

Sarah Larson Is Still Single

Sarah Larson, the girl whose name no one would know if George Clooney hadn't dated her, seems to be doing well since their breakup.  She hosted a party at Tao in Las Vegas last night, and she sounds pretty happy with her current life:

"I'm staying single," she said. "I'm not dating anyone right now."

I wonder how anyone moves on to date someone else after dating George Clooney.  I mean, Clooney, for goodness sake!

Is Justin Timberlake Ring Shopping?

His granny is already planning his wedding for him, so it's only fitting that Justin Timberlake should be shopping for a ring for his girl Jessica Biel.  Hot Or Not Gossip has this tidbit:

P. Diddy And Cassandra Ventura: Engaged?

This via Hollyscoop who saw it in Star.... P. Diddy (is that the name he's going by these days?) has proposed to his girlfriend Cassie Ventura.   According to the website:

They say he wanted his family to know first, before the tabloids, but leave it to Star to get it out in the open!

Please.  Diddy is such a media whore.  He'd leak the fact that he took a crap if he thought it would get him some publicity.

New Couple Alert: Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez?

Nick Jonas recently spoke to Rolling Stone about how close he and Miley Cyrus once were, but there's a lot of speculation about just how close he is to Disney star Selena Gomez.

A People magazine source says that Nick, 15, and Selena, 16, have been "dating for months."

Evidence suggests that the pair are close. Gomez, who appears in the Jonas Brothers' video "Burnin Up," has been photographed skateboarding wearing an Elvis Costello T-shirt, an item which Jonas told PEOPLE was one of his favorite things. And, Gomez was seen dancing with all three of the Jonas Brothers at the Disney Channel Games in Orlando, Fla., in March.

His rep denies it; hers did not return calls.   What's the real story?  Whatever it is, there's only so far this budding romance can go if both teens remain true to their vows of chastity until marriage.
