Bachelorette Jen Schefft: Engaged!

Remember Jen Schefft, from both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette?  She was the lucky girl proposed to by Andrew Firestone (who recently got married to someone else)?  Well, now she's getting married.  But after two tours of duty in reality TV, she's found her fiance the old fashioned way:  being set up by a friend.

Jen met her future husband, Joe Waterman

in a random twist of fate -- she was set up with him on a blind date by another man she'd gone on an (unsuccessful) blind date with!

That's kind of cute, actually - and a very good sport of an unsuccessful blind date, no?

The pair have been dating since February.  They'll marry in 2009 in Chicago.  Congratulations to the happy couple!

Natalie Portman & Devendra Banhart: Fini!

Natalie Portman and her boyfriend, folk-rocker Devendra Banhart, have split up, according to People.

The two got together when Natalie starred in Devendra's crazy fun Bollywood-themed video Carmensita. 

A fan of Banhart's music, Portman had asked him to donate a track to the charity compilation she curated on iTunes, Big Change: Songs for FINCA. She returned the favor by forgoing her usual fee to appear in the video.

That was very sweet of her, but evidently not sweet enough!  I'm not too surprised by this breakup though - I always thought he was a bit too crunchy granola for Natalie anyway.

Hugh Hefner Says "Transitions" Are Coming In His Relationships

I am not sure this is strictly couples news, more like foursome news.  That disclaimer aside, Hugh Hefner has indicated that there are "changes" coming in his relationships with Holly Madison, Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt.  He said:

"Are there going to be changes in the relationships, I'm sure there are going to be," Hefner said. "I think that in the future, the girls are going to, in time, be dating others and moving out of the mansion, and when that happens we will not be keeping it a secret."

He also shot down the rumors that Holly is dating Criss Angel.  "Holly shares my bed on a nightly basis," he said.  However, sources also say that Kendra is dating football player Hank Baskett.   Transitions indeed!

Michael Lohan & Erin Muller: Engaged!

Lindsay Lohan's Daddy Dearest Michael Lohan has announced his engagement to his girlfriend Erin Muller.  She is 33 years old, 15 years his junior; Lindsay's new stepmom is closer to her age than she is to her own husband-to-be. The couple said:

"We're thrilled to announce our engagement. We can't wait to start our life together as a married couple... We haven't set a date yet, but we hope it will be a family affair."

A family affair - what does that even MEAN?  Is he hoping to patch things up with Lindsay before the wedding?  Is Samantha Ronson not invited?  Is he inviting his ex-wife Dina?... OK, maybe it's not THAT much of a family affair.  Althought that would make for a great train wreck of an episode of her reality show. 

I think I'm congratulating the couple.  At least, I'm congratulating Michael for finding someone who can put up with him and his self-aggrandizing ways.  That had to have taken some effort!

Still Trying Too Hard: Jessica Simpson Gushes About Tony Romo

Jessica Simpson increasingly sounds like someone who is trying to convince everyone that she's in a good relationship.  No, really, it's a good one!  Swear to god!   She swooned to People:

"Tony [Romo] is a great quarterback, but he's a better boyfriend...I'm seriously proud of myself for letting him into my life...Through all the chaos and torment and everything I go through, I can lay in his arms and finally rest."

Yeah, he's a great boyfriend because he didn't break up with you after you jinxed him in your stupid pink Cowboys jersey!  (I'm not a Cowboys fan, I just thought that was kind of hilarious.  Sorry, Dallas.) These two remind me a lot of Speidi's ridiculously staged romance, but at least I'm pretty sure they're totally faking it, and they know everyone knows it, so they camp it up even more.  Jessica and Tony though... I know I keep saying this, but I do continue to wonder how much of this is scripted by her dad.

Portia de Rossi Really Is Mrs. DeGeneres Now

Star Magazine is reporting that Portia de Rossi is planning to take her new wife Ellen DeGeneres' name, and legally become Portia DeGeneres.

According to an insider, the two purchased stationery engraved with "Mrs. and Mrs. DeGeneres" from Tiffany & Co. in Beverly Hills weeks before their ceremony.

"Ellen and Portia used it to write thank-you notes to the 19 friends and family who attended," says the source.

That's a huge step, considering that even a lot of married heterosexual women choose not to change their names these days.  Good for Portia, and lucky Ellen!

A-Rod Settles His Divorce

Well, that was fast.  According to People, Alex and Cynthia Rodriguez have settled their acrimonious divorce.    Their attorneys issued this joint statement:

"Cynthia and Alex Rodriguez have amicably resolved their dissolution of marriage proceedings...They deliberately engaged in a private negotiation. During the negotiations and resolution all decisions were made with the best interests of their children as the paramount concern."

A-Rod had maintained that the terms of their  pre-nup should govern their divorce, while Cynthia asked for a cut of his earnings during their divorce as well as one of their properties valued at $12M.  The final terms of their settlement were not revealed. 

Which tells me that he probably gave her whatever she wanted.  Hope you're happy, Cynthia!

Jennifer Aniston seems to be recovering well from her break up with John Mayer.  She was spotted on a Mexican beach with an unidentified guy.  The Sun UK reports:

Wearing a skimpy pink bikini, Jen seems very comfortable in his company as they chat with pals over lunch.

Will he be The One?  What do you think - will this new guy break Jen's heart too?
