Hermione Granger Is Muggle Legal

A thousand apologies, dear readers!  Emma Watson turned 18 yesterday (4/15) and we TOTALLY forgot to report on it.  Tax Day does tend to distract a person like that...

Happy Birthday, Hermione!  Emma is a talented actress and a sophisticated young woman who has to date managed not to let Hollywood fame and fortune turn her into a popwreck.   Proof:  she's the face of Chanel, and they don't pick no classless girls to appear in their ads.

She's also incredibly rich.  Now that she's 18, her $20M+ fortune passes out of her parents' hands and into her own.  According to the Daily Mail, her parents made her go on "a crash course on being a multi-millionaire."

We'll see her next in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, hitting theaters Thanksgiving Weekend. 

Male readers, you may now lust at will.... without feeling like dirty old men.

One Movie Is Not Enough For "Deathly Hallows"

Harry Potter fans will have to wait until 2011 to see the saga finale on the big screen.  Warner Bros. announced today that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be made into not one, but two movies.   A rep said:

"Over ten years ago, we made a commitment to Jo Rowling that, above all else, we would be faithful and true to the spirit of her books, and ever since we have endeavored never to compromise on the creative ambitions of the films. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is so rich, the story so dense and there is so much that is resolved that after discussing it with Jo, we came to the conclusion that two parts were needed to do it justice."

He's right:  Deathly Hallows is a dense book - and a freakin' depressing, sad, loooonnggg-ass book too.   
But how much detail are they planning to include?  I recall The New Yorker's review of Chamber of Secrets, wherein director Chris Columbus was (rightly) accused of "[doing] everything but film J. K. Rowling’s semicolons."

Of course, this doubles Warner's ability to generate even more money off of this franchise.  Which is all well and good, but they better hurry up and finish filming before their stars age too much to be believable as teenagers any longer.   Emma Watson is already looking rather womanly. Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe are going to have full beards before long. 

Hmmm, perhaps they'll have to rename the last movie "Harry Potter and the Knee Replacement Surgery."
