Paul McCartney Writes 'Astonishing' Song For Heather Mills

Paul McCartney showed amazing restraint during his divorce from Heather Mills. While she was acting like a syphilitic Tasmanian devil on crank, he was quietly agreeing to give her millions and millions of dollars, plus money to take care of their daughter. Now nearly five months later, he's releasing a song memorializing their relationship and marriage.

The song "My Soul" is a collaboration with Asian-influenced electronic music guru Nitin Sawhney. The track will appear on Sawhney's new album London Undersound in October. The Daily Mail breaks down the lyrics and their meaning here:

A friend of Paul's shared:

"What the song shows is that rather than feeling embittered towards Heather, Paul just feels sorry for her. He feels sorry that she was never able to tell him the full truth about her past life. He feels that their romance happened so fast and so publicly that a lot never really got said."

Yeah... I guess there really isn't a good time to tell your incredibly famous, well-loved by the public, filthy stinking rich new boyfriend that you were a porn star in your past life, huh? But look: Paul may be a pretty cheesy solo songwriter (RIP John), but this sure is a classier way to deal with your feelings than dumping water on folks.

Well, it was a fun rumor while it lasted, but Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon are apparently not engaged. People reports on their reps' statements:

"They are not engaged, getting married or any of the reports," the reps tell PEOPLE exclusively, calling the reports "lies."

I have a feeling they will eventually though.

Jessica Simpson recently spilled to Elle on a bunch of stuff, including her relationship with John Mayer, even though they've been broken up for over a year. She waxed uber-cheesy with comments like this:

"John believed in the Jessica Simpson that's within. He cherished our love. He helped make me the woman I am today. John is going to be an amazing man for someone, but I know that I was supposed to be with someone else."

She sounds like she's still a little too attached to him, if you ask me... not unlike the lasting attachment John's current squeeze Jennifer Aniston reportedly still has for Brad Pitt. Why does John Mayer attract these needy women, I wonder?

Hulk Hogan doesn't seem like the kind of guy you'd call a softie by any means, but he's expressing some rather tender feelings about the end of his 24-year marriage with wife Linda Bollea. He recently opened up to Maria Menounos about the increasingly bitter situation:

“As crazy as that sounds to say, I wish I was still with my wife.”

When asked if he knew they were heading for divorce, Hogan said:

“Yeah, well you know, we’d had problems over the last 10 years but, you know, I thought that when you put your hand on the Bible, you know, until death do us part and for better or worse, I thought people really meant that when they said it,” he admitted.

No doubt it's good to take your wedding vows seriously, but Hulk? Did you forget about the "forsaking all others" part when you were boinking your daughter Brooke's friend Christiane Plante?

Reese And Jake To Be Married By Christmas!

Jake Gyllenhaal has reportedly been telling friends and coworkers that he and Reese Witherspoon are engaged! A source on the set of his new movie The Prince Of Persia said:

‘He told me he had proposed several times but she kept telling him she wanted to give their relationship more time. When he asked her again a couple of weeks ago, she finally said yes.’

And apparently he's got a date in mind already: he wants to be married on or around his birthday (December 19), after his movie wraps.

I could not have thought of a more perfect Hollywood couple than Jake and Reese. The holidays is a great time to get married. Congratulations to them!

Kate Hudson And Chris Robinson: Back On?

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong broke off their brief relationship earlier this week, but she seems to be ~~rebounding~~ recovering quite nicely, thank you very much. But not with Eric Lindros, as reported yesterday. Nope, she appears to be warming up the old soup with her ex husband, Chris Robinson!

The pair split in 2006, but according to innocent bystanders, they're not acting like exes:

Kate arrived at tiny Teteboro Airport in New Jersey yesterday in the early afternoon and took a car with her son Ryder to her SoHo apartment, where they were met on the steps by Chris.

"They were really affectionate with each other and gave each other a kiss which lasted much longer then a platonic kiss should last — 20 seconds, maybe a little longer. Without going into all the details the kiss was more than just friends. They seemed like something more going on and were very affectionate with each other."

Very interesting... I just hope they're sure about this because poor Ryder is going to be seriously confused otherwise!

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough have been hot and heavy for several months now, and reportedly even moved in together in May. So it's really no surprise that he popped the question recently. However, Shannon's perhaps not as enthusiastic as you might think - she said no!

"She's enjoying every moment of their romance , but she's not ready to get hitched again," an insider tells Star.

I suppose she's probably not, since she might still be married to Joseph Reitman. Despite her filing for divorce in 2005, it's not clear that the divorce is yet final. Probably want to get that loose end tied up before trying to marry anyone else, Shannon, hon.
